Description
Goblin Valley is best experienced by walking directly among the formations. From the valley floor, the sandstone shapes rise around you in every direction, each one shaped by time, weather, and erosion into something strange and almost playful.
This image was made while hiking with Cat during a hot, windy afternoon, as the sun began dropping lower and the clouds became the real show. I wanted a composition that looked upward through the goblins toward the sky, using the warm sandstone and the sweeping clouds together. Sunset Among the Goblins captures that feeling of standing inside the landscape rather than simply looking out across it.
