Description

Stiltsville, a unique community of stilt houses, traces its origins back to the 1930s when “Crawfish Eddie Walker” built the first shack on stilts in Biscayne Bay. Over the years, this exclusive and enigmatic area expanded, accessible only by boat and becoming a favored escape for visitors to Miami Beach.

This photograph features one of the seven surviving stilt houses, resiliently standing after numerous hurricanes have claimed the rest. In the backdrop, the Cape Florida Lighthouse lends a historical element to the composition. The house, painted in vibrant yellows and pinks, contrasts strikingly against the deep blue of the sky, while the remnants of a-frames add intriguing geometric complexity to the scene.

Photograph of one of the last remaining stilt houses in Stiltsville, Miami, perched above the waters of Biscayne Bay. The structure stands against a serene backdrop, with the historic Boca Chita Lighthouse visible in the distance. The image highlights the resilience of these iconic buildings, once part of a vibrant and exclusive community, now reduced to just a few surviving structures after recent hurricanes.
