Description
Just before the tunnel in the Upper East Canyon section of Zion National Park, there is a small parking area and a trailhead that leads all the way to Canyon Overlook Point. The trail is amazing, with interesting views all along the way. I did this hike in the dark of morning to capture the sunrise and returned later the same day for sunset. This is my favorite image from that sunset—the clouds and light were spectacular.
From here, you can see many of the prominent landmarks of Zion, including the Route 9 switchbacks, East Temple, and the Pine Creek Stream.
