Description
Captured from the same cliffside near Heceta Head Lighthouse, this photograph shows a powerful wave breaking along the Oregon Coast during the same unsettled morning as the previous image. The ocean was active and unpredictable, with waves rising and collapsing in rapid succession below the cliffs.
As the wave crested and began to break, a single cormorant passed through the frame, briefly cutting across the moving water. The small silhouette adds a sense of scale and timing to the scene
an instant of life set against the force and motion of the ocean.
Moments like this last only seconds. The combination of crashing water, shifting light, and the unexpected presence of a bird makes this image a unique capture from an ever-changing coastline.
