Description

Sweet Creek Falls sits deep in the temperate rainforests of coastal Oregon, a region defined by moss-covered rock, dense vegetation, and constant movement of water. The falls themselves aren’t large, but their character comes from the way the stream cascades over tiered basalt ledges, weaving through ferns, overhanging branches, and the bright green moss that blankets nearly every surface. It’s a classic example of the intimate, layered landscapes that make this part of the Pacific Northwest feel ancient and untouched.

On this visit the forest was damp and quiet, with autumn leaves scattered across the rocks and soft, filtered light reaching the water. To capture the full depth and detail of the scene, I created a multi-row panorama composed of more than 60 individual photographs. The final image exceeds 300 megapixels, revealing textures and features moss, rock, flowing water that would be impossible to portray in a single frame. The scale of the panorama allows the viewer to step deeper into the forest, seeing the falls as they truly are: complex, rich, and full of subtle detail.

This VAST image reflects both the beauty of Sweet Creek Falls and the technical precision required to capture such a layered environment in high resolution.

High-resolution panoramic photograph of Sweet Creek Falls in Oregon, showing water cascading over moss-covered basalt rocks, surrounded by dense green forest and autumn leaves.
