Description
Sometimes it’s the simple things that create the most striking photographs. While trekking through the snowy backcountry of Zion, I was struggling to capture the perfect shot. The snow began to fall heavily, and the light was fading fast. The scenery was stunning yet chaotic, with the busy landscape making it hard to find a clear subject.
Then I noticed a tiny shrub growing on a small rock ledge. I set up my camera and tripod low to capture the shrub at its level. With a wide aperture of 1.4, I kept the shrub sharply in focus while the background blurred into a soft haze, ensuring there were no distractions. A fast shutter speed froze both the shrub’s motion in the wind and the snowflakes as they fell. This image captures the calm within the storm, highlighting the beauty in the seemingly ordinary.
