Description
Mono Lake, a state park in California, appears otherworldly. I aimed to create an image that captures the essence of this extraordinary place. The structures you see in the distance are “tufa towers.” These are limestone formations that emerge underwater when freshwater springs interact with the lake’s calcium-rich water, causing these towers to form. They grow underwater over several decades, and with the lake’s reduced water levels, they are now visible to visitors.
This composite image was taken over a few hours during sunrise, blending the best moments to reflect the experience of hiking and witnessing the sunrise at Mono Lake. It’s an attempt to encapsulate the awe and beauty of this unique landscape.
