Description
At 5,575 feet above the Badwater Basin the view on top of the Black Mountains is one of the best in the park. We drove up to this stop in the dark hours before the dawn hoping for a great sunrise experience. While it was cool and clam in the valley it was much different on top of this mountain. The wind was gusting hard enough to move you around and it was cold, very very cold. Being a trooper I still hiked down the trail a fair bit and waited for the morning. In my image I included some of the desert brush close to the camera and then the entire valley below. Sunrise did not disappoint, the sky was an amazing red and the sun later washed across the mountains across the valley. Well worth the bitter cold morning.
