Description
Thor’s Well, nestled near Cape Perpetua on the enchanting Oregon coast, stands as one of the most captivating and unique locations in the United States. Aptly nicknamed the “drainpipe of the Pacific,” this natural wonder is a collapsed sea cave within the rugged lava rock terrain. During high tide and with the force of mighty waves, the ocean seemingly pours into the well, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
Capturing the magic of Thor’s Well becomes particularly spellbinding around 45 minutes before sunset. As the sky transforms into a palette of vibrant colors, casting an almost ethereal yellow glow on the surroundings, the stage is set for a mesmerizing display. With the tide steadily rolling in, powerful geysers erupt from the well, reaching heights of 20 feet. Using a swift shutter speed, I aimed to freeze every droplet suspended in the air, creating a dynamic snapshot of this natural phenomenon. The water surrounding the well beautifully mirrors the warm hues of the setting sun, adding an extra layer of enchantment to the scene.
