Mesa Arch Sunburst

Canyonlands National Park is a vast wilderness featuring three distinct districts, with Island in the Sky being the most accessible. This is where you’ll find Mesa Arch, a stunning natural sandstone formation perched on the eastern edge of the mesa, offering sweeping views of the canyon below. From this vantage point, you can see Monster Tower, Washer Woman Arch, Airport Tower, and, in the distance, the La Sal Mountains.

I visited Mesa Arch multiple times, seeking the ideal conditions for my photos. The classic shot captures the entire arch from a central perspective, which I achieved during one of my first visits. However, on my final morning, I decided to experiment with a unique angle from the far right. This perspective not only frames the arch differently but also reveals more of the canyon’s depth. In this shot, I was able to capture a stunning sunburst, adding a magical touch to the scene.
