Description
Our first visit to Southern Oregon brought us to Ariya Beach on a day filled with clouds and steady rain. My daughter Cameron and I had nearly written off the idea of photographing sunset. But about an hour before dusk, the clouds began to break, letting warm light filter through. With the tide receding and then creeping back in, we walked a few miles down the beach toward the sea stacks.
I composed this shot to capture two layers of these towering rock formations, framing the radiant sunbeams as they poured between them. The wet sand in the foreground reflects both shadow and light, adding depth and a quiet tension to the image. It was one of those fleeting moments where patience paid off.
