Description

Ubehebe Crater, an impressive geological feature within Death Valley, spans half a mile wide and plunges 600 feet deep. Formed by a Maar volcano possibly as recently as 2,100 years ago, this crater was created through violent steam and gas explosions as rising magma met groundwater. To capture the extraordinary detail of the crater rim, I composed a 60-photo panorama, meticulously showcasing each rock formation. The distinct shadow line that cuts across the crater rim enhances the depth and drama of the scene. Beyond the crater, the panorama stretches to include the extensive mountain ranges that define the park, offering a comprehensive view of this stark yet beautiful landscape.

Panoramic view of Ubehebe Crater at sunset, highlighting the detailed textures of the crater rim with a dramatic shadow line and distant mountain ranges in Death Valley National Park.
