Description
Voyageurs National Park presents unique challenges for photography. Made up almost entirely of lakes and dense forests, it lacks the dramatic mountain vistas found in other parts of the country. After exploring the Ash River area for some time, I discovered a quiet location for sunset along the rocky shoreline.
Climbing up on the large boulders gave me just enough elevation to frame this view over Kabetogama Lake. It was a wonderfully peaceful evening, and my daughter enjoyed exploring the shoreline while I waited for the light to fall. I was lucky the clouds broke just enough to let the sun cast a warm glow across the sky and water. Though it was the height of fall, only a few colorful trees stood out among the deep green pines, giving the scene a subtle transition between seasons.
