McWay Falls – Big Sur

McWay Falls, nestled within Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, is a breathtaking natural spectacle. This magnificent 80-foot waterfall cascades from a towering granite cliff, plunging into the pristine ocean waters of Monterey Bay. As the sun sets, the scene transforms into a captivating blend of golden hues, illuminating the cliff face and reflecting off the gentle waves below.

Due to the area’s instability, the traditional viewing platform has become unsafe, and large sections of the trail have collapsed into the shore beneath. However, I was fortunate to capture this remarkable perspective, showcasing the falls in all their glory during a vibrant sunset. This image, a composite of nearly 10 photos, is meticulously stitched to create a stunning 300-megapixel panoramic shot. The high level of detail allows you to appreciate the intricate textures of the cliff, the dynamic motion of the waterfall, and the tranquil expanse of the ocean at dusk.
