Description
A few days after our first visit, we returned to Ariya Beach—but this time, the rain never let up. It was a classic winter day on the Oregon coast: relentless rain, wind that cut sideways, and an atmosphere full of motion. Armed with raincoats and umbrellas, Cameron and I hiked the coastline, chasing whatever compositions the stormy conditions would allow.
This image came together as the sea grass whipped in the wind, creating dynamic foreground texture that pulls the eye toward the dark rocks, misty shoreline, and crashing waves beyond. Long exposures were impossible, but the raw energy of the coast didn’t need smoothing out—it wanted to be captured just as it was: wild, cold, and alive.
