Description
The Cape Kiwanda area in central Oregon is quickly becoming one of our favorite locations to watch the sunset in the Pacific Northwest. The diversity and beauty are second to none in this area. However, I’m now two for two in hiking up to the top of this dune/mountain area only to have late afternoon thunderstorms chase me away.
In this moment, captured approximately an hour before sunset and just before an approaching storm, the dramatic scene unfolds. On the horizon, rain pours over the ocean, and ominous storm clouds loom, foreshadowing the imminent weather shift. Undeterred, I seized the opportunity to capture a striking image.
As the sun’s rays filtered through low-hanging clouds, the sky was transformed into a canvas of wide and captivating beams. The warm light bathed the water below, accentuating the natural beauty of the arch as it glowed in the fleeting sunlight. Meanwhile, the storm-induced high tide intensified the ocean’s ferocity, causing waves to crash against the rocks with such force that foam danced in intricate patterns.
This photograph encapsulates the dynamic interplay of light, water, and weather, showcasing the unique charm of Cape Kiwanda’s landscape
