Description
This photograph was captured at Seal Rock near sunset after climbing to the top of a large sand dune overlooking the shoreline. From that vantage point, a Great Blue Heron stood motionless on a low rise near a sea stack several hundred feet away, remaining there through most of the evening.
As the sun briefly emerged from behind the clouds, warm yellow light spilled across the water behind the bird, creating a soft, glowing backdrop. That same light gently illuminated the surrounding grasses and the heron itself, separating it from the shifting ocean beyond.
The moment was quiet and unhurried
one bird, standing still, as the light and tide slowly changed. It’s a simple coastal scene, shaped by patience, timing, and the calm presence of wildlife along the Oregon Coast.
