Description
Lake McDonald, the largest lake in Glacier National Park, is also the most accessible. Both the Apgar Visitor Center and village are on the southernmost edge of the lake. We spent a good deal of time driving and stopping to hike around different areas of the lake. Due to the heavy smoke, the conditions were not great for a traditional sunset photo. However, the layer of smoke added what felt like a soft yellow filter to the entire scene. As the sun got close to the horizon, a wonderful reflection developed in the lake along with strong rays of light.
This photograph captures the unique and serene atmosphere created by the smoky conditions, highlighting the lake’s beauty in a different light.
