Description
I awoke long before sunrise to find the entire area covered in deep fog. I headed out to see if there was a possibility for a photo anywhere. I went to the glacially carved Lake Crescent, nestled in the northern foothills of the Olympic Mountains.
What I found was amazing. At the boat launch, I looked upon a lake covered in mist rising from the water, with clouds and fog descending from the sky. I found these three pillars that, in the summer, support a dock. I centered them in my frame and took a series of exposures. This image is all about symmetry, from the three pillars in the foreground to the dark mountains on each side. The mist, fog, and clouds add a sense of contrast and wonder to the entire photo.
