Description
This photograph was captured at sunrise on the far side of Seal Rock Beach after hiking down the shoreline to reach a quieter stretch of coast. Like many mornings on this trip, the sky didn’t deliver the dramatic color I had hoped for, but the scene still offered something worth slowing down for.
Low, moss covered rocks anchor the foreground, their textures and deep green tones standing out against the wet sand. A subtle hint of red from the early morning sky reflects faintly in the shallow water, drawing the eye outward toward the ocean.
Beyond the shoreline, Seal Rock and the surrounding sea stacks rise from the water under soft, overcast light. The composition relies on layers and natural lines rather than dramatic skies
foreground to water, water to rocks, rocks to horizon creating a calm, balanced coastal scene shaped by patience and observation.
