Description
After spending the late afternoon hiking through the lower valley with Cat and exploring the strange sandstone “goblins” up close, I made my way toward the Carmel Canyon Trailhead to look for a wider view of the landscape. A short hike down the trail opened up this scene, with the formations of Goblin Valley spread out below the sky.
The heat was expected, but the wind became the real challenge. Strong gusts kept pushing against the tripod, making it difficult to hold everything steady as the light changed quickly across the desert. For a few brief moments, the last warm light of the day struck the rock faces while the clouds above shifted into soft reds and pinks.
This captures that fleeting balance of desert light, weather, and color – the kind of moment that can disappear almost as soon as it arrives.
