Description
The Rincon Mountain District is full of wonder and interest, yet incredibly challenging to photograph well. We spent all of New Year’s Eve exploring every trail and area we could before we lost the light. With so many interesting elements, it’s hard to focus on a single subject while capturing everything else you need, like light and leading lines. While exploring the Javelina Rocks area on the east side loop, I found this unique scene.
The storm was just taking hold, and most of the direct light was gone for the day. However, the sky was fascinating with layers of clouds and color. Just below me is an old giant saguaro, and across from me is another huge rock formation. You can see the dense desert stretching out into the valley, dotted with thousands of other saguaros. In the very far distance, you can see the mountains of the western side of the park and a wonderful storm.
