Description

Outside of Page AZ you can fin the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (what really should be a National Park). It’s a massive area, and one could spend months here exploring and not see all of it. One of the better known areas is The Toadstool Hoodoos. These rock formation have taken millions of years to form from the wind and rain. There are some that are massive like in my picture and others that are just starting to forum. It’s a fragile area and one should take care not to damage anything.

We did the few miles hike out in the late afternoon. On what started as a clear day. After exploring all of the area I was drawn to this impressive formation. The balance of the tall and short hoodoo and the interesting sandstone formation between them is very interesting. I used a number of filters and composed my image so I was below the structure and aiming up at the dark blue sky that was mixed with clouds. In the lower section of sky you can see the coming storm. The Toadstool Hoodoos in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument feature striking rock formations formed over millions of years. This photo captures a tall hoodoo with a smaller one beside it, framed by dramatic sandstone formations and a darkening sky with storm clouds. The image was taken in the late afternoon, emphasizing the textures and unique shapes, with the angle from below accentuating the hoodoos against the blue sky. The scene conveys the area's fragile beauty and the need for careful exploration.
