Description
Located in western Texas near the New Mexico border, Guadalupe Mountains National Park is part of the vast Chihuahuan Desert. The park is renowned for its bright-white Salt Basin Dunes, expansive grasslands, and towering mountains, including Guadalupe Peak, which, at 8,751 feet, is the highest point in Texas.
During my visit, the weather was turbulent, with frequent rain and strong winds. Finding a compelling composition while contending with the weather posed a challenge. I chose a vantage point overlooking El Capitan (not the one in Yosemite) and returned several times, hoping for a break in the clouds. On this evening, my persistence paid off. The wind eased, the sky burst into a vivid red, and the last light of the day illuminated the summit of the 8,085-foot peak, creating a breathtaking scene.
