Description
Among all the strange formations in Goblin Valley, some feel small and whimsical, while others feel heavy, ancient, and immovable. This one immediately caught my attention. Its rounded caprock and layered shape gave it the presence of a stone guardian watching over the desert.
The afternoon was hot, the wind was strong, and the clouds overhead were constantly changing. I worked close to the formation, using its mass to anchor the frame while the sky opened behind it. The Stone Guardian of Goblin Valley captures the quiet strength of these sandstone forms and the dramatic desert atmosphere that makes Goblin Valley such a surreal place to photograph.
