Description
As we were leaving the vast expanse of the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, I thought the sunset had passed, but nature had a stunning surprise in store. Below a massive dune, the entire landscape unexpectedly lit up with a warm glow. This phenomenon, sometimes seen during the blue hour, occurs when the residual sunlight reflects off the atmosphere, illuminating the ground as if the sun were still above the horizon. The golden sand under this ethereal light created a striking contrast with the sky, which transitioned from warm golden hues near the mountains to a deep, cool blue across the scene. This image captures the fleeting magic of twilight in the desert.
