Description
Heading out of Kings Canyon National Park, you can take Hume Lake Road, a long, winding route that eventually reaches Hume Lake. Along the way, the road offers some breathtaking viewpoints. As we drove, I found this stunning scene at an unmarked bend with no designated pull-off area.
The Great Western Divide is a segment of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, separating Kings Canyon from Sequoia National Parks. This particular view captures the range at sunset. It was a perfect spring evening, with a magnificent sunset illuminating the snow-dusted peaks. Just a week or two prior, the mountains were blanketed with snow, but now only a few summits retained a dusting of white as the sun set behind them.
