Description
Just seven miles north of Kailua-Kona lies Kohanaiki Beach Park, also known as Pine Trees Beach. This expansive stretch of shoreline has something for everyone, from sandy beaches to surfing, and for me, photography. As you walk along the beach and past the preserved trees, the sand gives way to a rugged lava shoreline. Here, one can venture quite far out, finding moments of solitude amidst the natural beauty.
I wandered deep into this terrain until I discovered a magical spot. Before me stood two lava tubes, and I watched the water pour over and drain through them. Although the tide was low and there were no towering waves, the sunset illuminated the tranquil scene. Wispy clouds painted the sky with a warm glow, and the last rays of sunlight reflected off the water before me.
I’ve sought to capture the serene beauty of this incredible beach, where the gentle wash of waves over lava rock and the vibrant sky in the distance create an atmosphere of peace and calm.
