Description
As I drove into Indiana Dunes National Park just before dawn, the weather was not looking good. It had rained on and off all night, but I was hoping to get some color in the sky when the sun came up. I drove to Mount Baldy, a massive 126ft tall “wandering sand dune.” The dune has been moving for some time, and the trees you see in my photo are not growing out of the dune; rather, they have been swallowed by it.
I was very lucky on this spring morning to get just a little hint of color as the sun broke free from the horizon. The warm tones of the sky are in lovely contrast to the dark trees and sand, creating a striking and memorable image.
