Description
I’ve been to the observatory deck on top of Rockefeller Center a number of times, always hoping for a sunset like this. On a late and somewhat warm September evening, I was able to capture this stunning view of New York City. The day had been mostly cloud-free, but as the afternoon waned, the clouds began to roll in. The deck was packed with people, and I had to secure my spot a good two hours before sunset. It was well worth the wait—this is one of the best sunsets I’ve seen all year.
The clouds lit up over the skyline, creating a warm red light throughout the entire city. Directly in front of me is the Empire State Building, with One World Trade Center downtown to the right. The Hudson River glowed red from the sunset, and the building lights were just coming on throughout the scene. This image captures the vibrant energy and breathtaking beauty of New York City at sunset.
