Description
Sweet Creek Falls is tucked deep within Oregon’s coastal forest, and reaching it often requires patience, careful footing, and a willingness to get wet. This photograph was captured on a cool, rainy late-fall afternoon, when the trail was muddy and the creek swollen from recent storms.
To create this image, I stepped out onto a series of slick rocks and positioned my tripod directly in the flowing water. The long exposure smooths the rushing white water as it cascades over the rocks, while the surrounding moss glows a vivid green from constant moisture and filtered forest light.
The contrast between the cool, moving water and the rich, living textures of the moss gives this scene its quiet energy. It’s a classic Oregon forest moment—raw, damp, and alive—captured exactly as it felt to stand there.
