Description
I am not much of a wildlife photographer; I am much more of a traditional landscape photographer. However, when you see a lone bison standing in a wonderful prairie with soft light and clouds in the distance, how can you resist? It had rained much of the day, but as luck would have it, the rain stopped and the sun peeked in and out of the clouds, creating the perfect light for capturing this impressive animal.
A ranger in the park once warned me that the bison here are aggressive and have even chased down people. It seems the remoteness of the park and lack of visitors make them a bit more dangerous than those you might find in Yellowstone, for example. For those concerned, this was taken from a safe distance with a long lens. I have the utmost respect for wildlife and my own personal safety!
