Description

Each day in Pinnacles National Park began with a 1.5-mile hike to the Bear Gulch Reservoir, timed to start well before sunrise. Although the trail climbs uphill most of the way, it’s relatively gentle, with breathtaking scenery to admire in the daylight—mountain views, lush valleys, and even cave explorations.

My focus, however, was always on the spectacle that awaited at sunrise. The quiet, undisturbed reservoir area made these early morning hikes worth every step. The serene moments just before dawn, with no one else around, created a perfect atmosphere for reflection and photography.

On one such morning, the light began to gently illuminate the high valley after sunrise. The trees on the far side of the reservoir caught the first rays, their leaves seeming to glow. The water was as still as a mirror, reflecting the entire scene in stunning detail.

This magical interplay of light and reflection created unforgettable views that I was fortunate to capture. The images tell the story of the tranquil beauty and unique experiences I discovered during my early morning adventures in Pinnacles National Park.
