Description
We spent three consecutive days at Morton Overlook in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and each day offered a different experience. Some days, the clouds would roll in so early that there was no light or color at sunset. On the second day, the clouds blew away, leaving little interest for the sunset. However, the photo below was taken on our last try.
On that day, the clouds drifted over the valley just before sunset, leaving a small gap that allowed soft light to wash over the scene. The clouds developed an amazing color, and a hint of light on the trees below allowed the fall colors to shine through beautifully.
