Description
There are a number of Z Trees scattered around Everglades National Park, serving as man-made markers for navigation from a time before roads or trails existed in the area. This particular Z Tree is likely the most well-known, as it is relatively easy to find, unlike others hidden deep in the wetlands. Most of these trees are surrounded by dense forest, making them challenging to photograph.
I visited this location at sunrise and was fortunate to have great light just before dawn. The tree had a perfect reflection in the high water from recent rains, and a single bird perched directly in front of me, adding a touch of life to the serene scene.
