Description
Heceta Head is a location I returned to over several mornings, knowing how challenging sunrise photography can be along the Oregon Coast. Facing west, much of the coastline is shadowed at first light, with tall forested cliffs blocking the sun as it rises behind them.
From this exposed cliffside, I was able to capture a wide view of the coastline just as the sky began to wake up. Rain clouds lingered offshore, catching early color and reflecting it back into the water below. The waves moving through the frame carry those soft tones, adding subtle motion and depth to the scene.
A small cloud clings to the trees along the distant cliffs, while sea spray drifts through the air and reads almost like fog as it fades into the horizon. It’s a quiet moment of transition between night and day, calm and movement unique to coastal mornings like this.
